APOSTOLIC NUGGETS

“And he gave some, Apostles; and some, Prophets ; and some, Evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”     ----- Eph 4:11-12

Apostles as the name implies have unlimited commission to preach and to found churches, and like the rest of the five fold ministry gifts, they are a gift to the church, the body of Christ. The Leadership of the church founded by Jesus was handed over to the Apostles and His final instruction to them was “to be His witnesses from Jerusalem, unto the uttermost parts of the earth through the Power of the Holy Ghost” Acts 1:8.

In the course of carrying out their mandate, many experiences and knowledge would have been gained which becomes an invaluable treasure that must be passed on to those who have heard the call of Jesus and wish to walk the path.

Hence, this column will be updated regularly with nuggets from various men/women of God who have blazed the trail in fulfilling the mandate of preaching and establishing churches, in their quest to expand the Kingdom of God.

God bless you as you take advantage of these nuggets even as you work towards obeying the great commission.

Today’s Nugget: "Let him that lacks widom ask for it"

Wisdom is a great and important ingredient to have as you serve on the mission field. It helps you to know who you are really serving and to serve him accurately. Without the right knowledge of God, it is very easy to do things anyhow. However God cannot be mocked, we are going to reap whatever we sow.  And on the mission field, every action (good or bad) is a seed which will germinate, grow and yield fruits. Wisdom says, be careful what and how you sow. Wisdom says "do not sow disobedience or lawlessness". The smallest act of disobedience is a seed that has potential to release a harvest that is capable of negating all the great things you may have done. Unfortunately, the fruits may not be seen until it is too late. A careful study of Matthew 7:20-23 will further amplify this nugget.

We can say therefore that "the first quality you need on the mission field is absolute obedience."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recent Nugget:  "The last quality you need on the mission field is Zeal."

As important as this quality is, it is not the first thing that you need on the field but rather what you need to impliment the mandate, AFTER getting all other qualities. It should keep you moving, not get you started. It provides the fuel but it is not the engine. Although petrol is very useful it can also be very dangerous, so is zeal in ministry if not properly handled.
